Cabbage Soup Diet – Does it Work?
The cabbage soup diet has been around for years with many people trumpeting its value as a legitimate weight diet program. I’m leery of any diet plan that promises fast weight loss and focuses on one specific food. Without adequate nutrition, your weight loss may consist of water and muscle wasting. Let’s review the cabbage soup diet and see what it consists of.
The 7-day Cabbage Soup Diet Plan
The plan starts with, of course, cabbage soup which is eaten twice a day. You will factor in fruit and other vegetables, lean meat, and skim milk. You will be required to drink plenty of water. Monday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup. You can eat as much fruit as you want. Your drinks consist of water, tea, cranberry juice, black coffee. No sugar allowed. Tuesday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup. You can eat as many low-glycemic vegetables as you want. Your drinks consist of water, tea, cranberry juice, black coffee. No sugar allowed. Wednesday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup. You eat a fruit and vegetable mixture. Your drinks consist of water, tea, cranberry juice, black coffee. No sugar allowed. Thursday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup. Today you can eat eight bananas and have two glasses of skim milk to drink Friday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup. Finally some protein. You can consume 20 oz of lean protein and six fresh tomatoes. Saturday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup, 3 steaks, and unlimited vegetables. Sunday: You eat your two bowls of cabbage soup, 2 cups of brown rice, unlimited vegetables and unsweetened fruit juices. That’s a pretty restrictive diet! They say you can lose 10 pounds with the cabbage soup diet.
Is this Diet Safe?
There are many diet planshealthy diet plan, you can lose a pound or two a week. That’s 5 to 10 weeks to drop the 10 pounds this diet promises.I don’t believe that this is a safe way to lose weight. The daily caloric intake is around 1000 calories. That is scary stuff. Most experts will advise you not to go below 1200 to 1300 calories per day. Losing 10 pounds in 7 days is not healthy. That’s too much for your body to adjust to. You don’t get any protein until the 5th day. Lack of protein will cause your body to consume nutrients from your muscles. This will further alter your metabolism as muscle burns more calories at rest than fat. If you’re looking for a weight loss program, we can point you in the right direction.
