Belly Exercises: Burn the Fat

Belly exercises alone won’t reduce your abdominal fat. The only way to lose fat is to begin a program of healthy eating and physical fitness. You have to implement an over-all fat loss program to get rid of your belly fat. This includes nutrition and physical activity.

Stomach exercises will strengthen your stomach muscles providing you with better posture and balance. Combine these exercises with a cardio, interval, or weight training program will help you burn your spare tire. You also need to change your dietary habits to a nutritionally sound plan.

Exercises to Strengthen Your Core

Perform 1 set of 10 repetitions.

Increase your sets as you become stronger.

The first of the exercises for the belly will target your upper stomach muscles.

Ab Crunch – Lie down on your back. Bend your knees and keep your feet flat on the floor. Place your arms in front of you with your hands on you stomach. Press your lower back to the floor. Using your stomach muscles lift your head and upper body off the floor. Return to the starting position.

This is a variation on the Ab Crunch and will target your lower stomach muscles.

Reverse Ab Crunch – This exercise has you lying on your back with your arms down at your sides. Now lift your legs. Your knees should be bent at a 90 degree angle (Like you’re in the sitting position). Crunch your pelvis towards your ribs bringing your knees toward your chest. Hold, and then slowly return to the starting position.

The next two cannot be classified as belly exercises but will strengthen your core muscles.

Oblique V-Up – Lie down on your side. Your body should form a straight line. Fold your arms in front of you with your hands on your chest. Raise your legs off the floor keeping your feet together. Lift your upper body from the side toward your corresponding hip. Finish your set then repeat the same for your other side.

Russian Twist – Get into the sitting position. Your torso should be at a 45 degree angle (Like you are halfway through a sit up). Hold your arms out directly in front of you. Bend your knees and keep your feet flat on the floor. Turn to one side as far as you can. After a slight pause turn to the other side.

Of the belly exercises shown here, this one will burn the most fat due to the cardio activity.

Bicycle – lie on your back. Hold your hands by your ears make sure you do not lock your fingers behind your head. Bend your knees at a 90 degree angle. Pump your legs like you’re riding a bicycle while rotating your torso from side to side.

These belly exercises will strengthen your stomach muscles and provide some physical activity to promote fat loss. To be effective you’ll have to combine them with a fitness and nutrition program.
